Telephone box saved Action by local councillors has resulted in the red K6 telephone box in Quoitings Square being listed by English Heritage as a building of special architectural or historic interest. We await news of the possible listing of the telephone boxes in the High Street. We are committed to retaining our heritage where it is appropriate. Bus shelters Regular users of our local buses will be aware that our bus shelters are in need of refurbishment. The Town Council have agreed to renovate all bus shelters within the Town with work expected to start soon. Your Conservative Councillors are also seeking funds to erect bus shelters at the two very well used bus stops in West Street and Chapel Street. |

Buckinghamshire County Council

West Street. The County Council is pleased to announce that A4155 West Street, Marlow from the High Street to Spinfield Lane will be resurfaced, where necessary, by patching and planing work. This will commence on 25 October and last for three days. Whilst there will be some disruption during this period, residents will welcome the improvement to the road surface which was badly damaged last winter.
In April 2010 County Councillor Richard Scott presented a petition signed by over 1,000 residents to Buckinghamshire County Council requesting refurbishment of our historic bridge. Resulting from this, the County Council agreed to spend £60,000 to address some of the urgent issues. A recent bulletin from the County Council senior bridge adviser said “the bridge is currently looking tired with flaking paint and rotting timber, so we will be replacing timber sections of the parapets, cutting and fitting 600 unique new pieces. We will also be painting some of the suspension chains to return the bridge to its former glory”. The work started mid July and will take around 16 weeks to complete. The summer months were chosen as traffic over the bridge is generally lighter than at other times. Richard Scott said “I am delighted that we have at last obtained funds to carry out these essential works. The bridge is one of Marlow’s key attractions and should always be maintained to a high standard”. |
